VW JETTA MK5 HEADLIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT – 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 | GOLF MK5

Replace Jetta Headlight Bulb

Was working on my hood latch and by the time it was all said and done and I took it for a test drive the headlight warning was on the dash…

Changing this is super straight forward and easy, even a non-technical person can do it.

I highly advise you to watch the video up above, I show you exactly how to do it.

All you’ll need are two things:

Replacement Bulb

Latex Gloves

TRUST ME WHEN I SAY YOU NEED THE LATEX GLOVES – IF YOU GET FINGER OILS ON THE BULB (EVEN IF YOU WASH YOUR HANDS) – The bulb will blow within a record time. Ask me how I know… Yeah…. Been there, done that. And at nearly $40 for the set of bulbs, please trust me.

Changing the headlight bulb on your 2008 Jetta is a quick DIY project you can tackle with just a few minutes and a little care. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how to get it done without hassle.

Accessing the Bulb

  • Pop the hood and locate the headlight assembly.
  • Find the cap covering the bulb area and twist it to the left (counterclockwise) to remove it.

Removing the Old Bulb

  • Once the cap is off, you’ll see the old bulb.
  • Twist the bulb to the left and pull it out carefully.

Installing the New Bulb

  • Without touching the glass of the new bulb, align it so the metal tab slides between the designated plastic guides.
  • Insert the bulb and make sure it’s seated snugly.

Securing Everything Back

  • Twist the bulb into place counterclockwise.
  • Reattach the protective cap by twisting it back on.

Final Check

  • Turn on your headlights to confirm the new bulb works.
  • If it doesn’t turn on right away, double-check that it’s seated and aligned properly with the metal contacts.

Once again this is the bulb I’m using for my replacement. As long as you have the basic headlight like me, should be good to go with this bulb.
